I have once again reviewed your appeal to drop HIST 272 (S 2009); CLST 321, HIST 242, CLST 340, HIST 299 (F 2009); CLST 101 (FW 2009/10); HIST 124 (FW 2014/15); HIST 241 (F 2016); HIST 353 (W 2018), receive Credit standing in PHIL 111 (FW 2004/05), as well as change the grades you received in PHIL 273 (F 2017) and HIST 207 (S 2017) to Aegrotat standing. I am delighted to see that there is clear evidence indicating you have worked closely with your health care providers and the Faculty of Arts and Science Advisor. You have completed your work in your most recent courses as required and have a reasonable plan going forward. After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted, the information supplied by the instructors about the circumstances surrounding these courses and because of your demonstrated commitment to your academics this past year, I have decided to grant your appeal. The granting of this appeal will also remove the €œIneligible to proceed to an Honours Degree€ ruling.

The instructor of PHIL 273 has submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed, which will appear on your transcript as B+ along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€. The instructor of HIST 207 has submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed, which will appear on your transcript as C along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€. Your grade in PHIL 111 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in Important Dates Section on the Arts and Science web page. These deadlines have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students providing them with the opportunity to evaluate their progress and make informed decisions regarding dropping courses when life circumstances affect their studies. Going forward I strongly recommend that you limit your enrollment in a seminar course to one per term, given the workload required in those courses. I also suggest that you meet with your Academic Advisor, Haley Everson in January to review your progress.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
