I was sorry to read of the various challenges you experienced during the 2018/2019 academic year and I am sorry for your loss. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 100 (FW 2018/19) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in ECON 110, POLS 110 and SOCY 122 (FW 2018-19). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in ECON 110, POLS 110 and SOCY 122 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances as well as the excellent academic plan you have presented. However, I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to work with your Counsellor and to consider registering with QSAS who can help you manage both your health and your academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
