Student Name: Katryna Mracic
Student Email: 18km2@queensu.ca

Course: PSYC 100
Term: Fall/Winter
Year: 2018
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Katryna Mracic:

I was sorry to read of the health related challenges you experienced last year and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 100 (FW 2018-19) past the academic deadline. Based on the circumstances you have outlined and the documentation you have provided, I have decided to grant your request.

Based on the information and documentation presented in your appeal, I am also willing to drop WRIT 120 (S 2019) and grant you Credit Standing in SOCY 122 (FW 2018/19) and GNDS 125 (W 2019). Credit standing is a notation (CR) which replaces your grade on your transcript. The course is included in your degree requirements but the grade does not negatively impact your GPA. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

I strongly recommend that you follow through with your plan to seek counselling here at Queen€™s. Student Wellness Services is located in Mitchell Hall and one-on-one counselling is available free to Queen€™s student. I also suggest that you consider registering with QSAS if ongoing accommodations are needed to help you manage both your health and academics. Going forward, you should assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop courses by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your studies this year.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
