Dear Gianluca Venditti:

I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in SOCY 210 (F 2017) and SOCY 211, SOCY 227 (W 2019). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:

1. To grant your request for Credit in SOCY 210 based on your extenuating circumstances at that time and the documentation you have submitted. Your grade in this course will appear as CR on your transcript.

2. To deny your request to receive Credit in SOCY 211 and SOCY 227. As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed all of the work in the course including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower.€ These extenuating circumstances must be supported by documentation. Unfortunately, the documentation submitted and circumstances relayed does not support the timeline of Winter term 2019 to the extent that your transcript should be altered.

Gianluca, I am sure this is a disappointing decision but let me remind you that if a student repeats a course, the higher grade will be included in their GPA.

I am pleased to read that you continue to monitor your work load and that you are now working with QSAS. Going forward, I strongly encourage you to continue to pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind or if your health is impacting your studies, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline date.
