Decision Date: November 28, 2019
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Dana Meilach
Student Email: 15dem@queensu.ca
Course: BIOL 503
Term: Fall
Year: 2019
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Dana Meilach:
I was sorry to read about the increased health related difficulties you have experienced this term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BIOL 503 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I encourage you to continue to work with your health care professional and consider registering with QSAS if ongoing accommodations are required. A QSAS Advisor can help support both your health and academics. Going forward, you should pause and assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck in the remainder of your courses this term.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
