Dear Christina Kim:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you experienced during the 2018/2019 academic year and after carefully considering your appeal to drop ECON 212, ECON 240, ECON 243, ECON 332 and ECON 348 (W 2019) past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances and documentation, but also due to the fact that you have carried a lighter course load this term so you can focus on your health. I am also willing to drop ECON 212 and ECON 370 (F 2018) based on your circumstances. If you wish to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca and we will amend your transcript accordingly.

Going forward, I suggest that you pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students. In addition, I encourage you to consider registering with QSAS if your circumstances continue, if you have not done so already, and work with an accommodation advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health related challenges.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
