Dear Alyanna Royce:
I was sorry to read about the very difficult circumstances you have outlined in your letter of appeal and I have carefully considered your request to drop LAW 201, POLS 359 and POLS 384 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I encourage you to continue to work with your health care team and to consider registering with QSAS who can assist you with ongoing accommodations to help you manage both your health and academics, if required. As you did this term, I encourage you to continue to pause and assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Best of luck in your continued recovery.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
