Dear Madeline Zarb:

I was sorry to read of an event that resulted in a health related challenge. No doubt that has been difficult to cope with and I am willing to grant your appeal to drop CHEM 112 (FW 2018/2019) past the academic deadline based on that circumstance.

I am pleased to see that you are now registered with QSAS and I encourage you to continue to work with your QSAS Advisor as well as the Student Wellness Services office. Going forward, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your studies you should drop courses by the week 8 deadline. The appeals process is not designed to manage an ongoing or chronic condition but to address circumstances that occurred after the drop dates.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
