Decision Letter
Appeal Number: 6333
Decision Date: December 17, 2019
Associate Dean: Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Student Name: Quentin DiFrancesco
Student Email: 16qjtd@queensu.ca
Course: BIOL 335
Term: Fall
Year: 2019
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline
Dear Quentin DeFrancesco:
I was sorry to read of the difficulties you have experienced this term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BIOL 335 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
Quentin, I was pleased to read that you have reached out to the Wellness office for support as well as seeking ongoing counseling from another health care provider and I encourage you to continue to work on your health related challenges. If those challenges persist, you may want to register with QSAS who can help you manage both your health and academics.
Going forward I suggest that you pause to evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 or 8 of the term and if you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
