Student Name: Kathryn Hunt
Student Email: 17kah10@queensu.ca

Course: ECON 222
Term: Fall
Year: 2019
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Kathryn Hunt:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you experienced this term. It is unfortunate that the deferred exam in ECON 222 was impacted by a second injury being a concussion. Based on your circumstances and documentation, I am willing to grant your appeal to drop ECON 222 (F 2019) past the academic deadline.

I am pleased to see that you have registered with QSAS and I encourage you to continue to work with your QSAS Advisor for ongoing support related to both your health and your academics. Going forward, I suggests you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your studies you should drop courses by the week 8 deadline. The appeals process is not designed to manage an ongoing or chronic condition but to address circumstances that occurred after the drop dates.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
