Dear Jenelle Hogarth:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you outlined in your letter of appeal and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop CHEM 281 and ENGL 290 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am confident that in the future you will make every effort to inform yourself of the academic regulations concerning deadlines as they are outlined in the Important Dates section on the Arts and Science web page. A good practice for all students is to pause and assess their progress in courses or discuss options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop courses by the end of week 8.

I strongly suggest that you continue to work with Student Wellness Services who can continue to support you during this current term.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Studies)
