Dear Molly McClement:

I was sorry to read of the medical issues which affected your studies last term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GLPH 271, DEVS 340, LAW 201 and GPHY 351 (F 2019) past the academic deadline based on those circumstances. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage an ongoing condition. Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems become more acute late in the term. I would strongly recommend that you continue to work with your Physician and suggest that you considering registering with QSAS when you resume your studies. An Advisor in Accessibility Services will be able to help support both your health and your academics.

Going forward I suggest that you pause during week 7 of the term to carefully evaluate whether you are keeping up in each of your courses including doing the readings and completing all assignments or tests on time. If your circumstances are having a negative impact on your courses, you should drop them by week 8 of term.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
