Dear Summer Kargus:

I was sorry to read about the challenges you explained in your letter and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop SPAN 111 (W 2018) and CISC 102 (S 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I encourage you to continue to work with your QSAS Advisor who can help support both your health and academics. Going forward, you should pause and assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

I am pleased to see that your grades have indeed improved now that you are receiving appropriate accommodations and I wish you the best of luck in your courses this term.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
