I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHIL 257 (FW 2016/17); PHIL 276, RELS 202 (W 2017); PHIL 233 (F 2017); PHIL 257 (FW 2017/18); PHIL 329 (W 2018); PHIL 318, PHIL 361 (F 2018); PHIL 351, PHIL 352 (W 2019) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in POLS 250 (FW 2016-17); CLST 200 (F 2017); PHIL 275 (W 2018). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request to drop your courses late. With regards to your Credit standing requests, I will grant your request for Credit standing in POLS 250 and CLST 200 and your grades will appear on your transcript as CR in those courses.

I will deny your request for Credit standing in PHIL 275 since you passed the course even though only 50 of the work was submitted in this course. Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student has completed all of the work in the course including the final examination, and achieved a passing grade in the course.€

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems and future appeals will not be granted based on this chronic condition. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I would encourage you to work with your health care professionals, including a counsellor from QSAS, to manage both your health and academics. This could include taking a lighter course load and would include evaluating the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term and dropping courses which are affected by your extenuating circumstances.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
