Dear Marisa Koning:
I have carefully considered your appeal to drop GPHY 101 and CISC 102 (W 2019) and STAT 263 (F 2019) past the academic deadline as well as receive Credit standing in HLTH 101, COGS 100, CISC 101 (F 2018), GEOL 106 (W 2019) and CISC 102 (F 2019). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grades in HLTH 101, COGS 100, CISC 101, GEOL 106 and CISC 102 will appear on your transcript as CR.
I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but I need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage ongoing problems. The Appeal process is designed for students who encounter problems, or whose problems become acute, after the drop deadline. Instead, I encourage you to reach out to our Student Wellness Services if you do return to Queen€™s to complete your degree as they can assist you in your recovery. Again, if you return to Queen€™s, you may also want to consider register with QSAS who can help with accommodations to support both your health and your academics. They may well suggest that you consider taking a lighter course load and would remind you that you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses prior to week 8 of term and drop courses which are affected by your extenuating circumstances.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I do hope your recovery is going well and wish you the best of luck in your future academic endeavors.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
