Dear Riley Wales:

I was sorry to have read of your reported health related challenges during the Fall 2019 term. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MICR 360 (F 2019) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the impact of your extenuating circumstances that occurred before you were able to set up appropriate accommodations through QSAS. I need to caution you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. I encourage you to continue to work with your QSAS Advisor and your health-care provider who can help support both your health and academics. Going forward, I remind you to pause and assess your progress in your courses or discuss your options with an Academic Advisor during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop by the end of week 8.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
