Dear Wei Guo:

I was sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you were suffering with a health related challenge last term. Based on your circumstances and documentation, I will grant your appeal to drop STAT 361 (F 2019) past the academic deadline based.

I encourage you to continue to work with your health care professionals and suggest you consider registering with QSAS if you require ongoing accommodation and support. A QSAS Advisor can assist you with both your health and your academics.

Going forward, I encourage you to pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind in your course work or are not satisfied with the grades earned by that date, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline. The appeals process is not meant to manage a chronic condition but to assist students who experienced extenuating circumstances after that drop date deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
