Dear Mary Burt:

I was sorry to read of the circumstances you outlined in your letter of appeal, this must have been very difficult to deal with. I have decided to grant your appeal to drop HIST 246, SOCY 210 (Fall 2018) after the Academic Deadline, for Credit Standing in POLS 261, SOCY 226 (Fall 2018), and to Drop SOCY 227, SOCY 235, SOCY 273 (Winter 2019) after the Academic Deadline. I am granting this appeal based on the nature of your extenuating circumstances and the support that you provided from your healthcare professional.

I encourage you to continue to work with your health care providers and your QSAS Advisor who can help support both your health and academics as well as manage your accommodations so that you can meet your ongoing course work requirements.

Going forward, I encourage you to pause and evaluate your progress in courses during week 7 of the term and if you have been unable to keep up with the course requirements or feel that dropping a course is in your best interest, you should do so by the week 8 drop date deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
