Dear Brooke Noonan:
I was sorry to read that you were struggling with health related challenges during the Fall term 2019 and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop HLTH 200, HLTH 315 and MOHK 101 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.
I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances as well as the proactive steps you have taken by putting a pause on your studies during the Winter term 2020 so you could attend to your health. Going forward, a good practice for all students to follow, is to evaluate their progress in their studies during week 7 of the term. If a student has fallen behind in a course or finds the material too difficult, they should drop courses by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Brooke, I encourage you to consider registering with QSAS to work with a QSAS advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health related challenges if your circumstances continue.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I see you are registered in a Summer term course and I wish you luck with that course
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
