Student Name: Camila Mayorga
Student Email: 15mcmp@queensu.ca

Course: ANAT 312
Term: Fall
Year: 2019
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Camila Mayorga:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ANAT 312 (F 2019) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have exercised some leniency in this decision, acknowledging that the information you received may have been incorrect, however our website clearly provides information indicating the F grade would count towards your GPA:

Will my grade in a PIC class count toward my GPA
A grade of P in a PIC class will not count toward your GPA. However, a grade of F in a PIC class will count toward your GPA in the same way as any other failing grade.

Going forward, I suggest that you carefully evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 or 8 of the term and assess whether you are actively engaged in your courses and are completing your assignments on time. If not, you should drop any courses in which you have fallen behind or are concerned about your success in, by the end of week 8 (the drop deadline). Appeals for late drops are generally reserved for those who encounter problems after week 8 or whose problems become more acute and is not meant to manage ongoing conditions.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
