Dear Crystal O€™Dea:

I was sorry to read of the health and family challenges that you outlined in your letter and I have reviewed your appeal to drop ENGL 274, ENGL 290, SPAN P10 (Fall 2016), ENGL 237, ENGL 273, ENGL 293 (Winter 2016), ENGL 200, ENGL 215 (Fall/Winter 2015/2016), ENGL 290 (Fall 2016), ENGL 200, ENGL 215, FREN 150, and PSYC 100 (Fall/Winter 2016/2017) after the drop date. After careful consideration of the documentation that you submitted, I have decided to grant your appeal.

I commend you for taking a pause from your academics to address your health concerns and am happy to read that you are feeling ready to return to your studies at this time. I encourage you to continue to work with your health care professionals and suggest you consider registering with QSAS who can help you manage both your health and your academics.

Going forward, you should pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
