I was sorry to read that you have been struggling with health related challenges this semester and have carefully considered your appeal to drop CISC 102 and CHEM 281 (S 2020) past the academic deadline. I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.
I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances as well as the proactive steps you have taken to meet with a health care professional regarding your challenges. Going forward, a good practice for all students to follow, is to evaluate their progress in their studies prior to the drop date deadlines. If a student has fallen behind in a course or finds the material too difficult, they should drop courses by the drop date. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Emma, I also encourage you to consider registering with QSAS and work with a QSAS advisor who may be able to help you manage both your academics along with your health-related challenges and suggest you discuss this with your health care professional.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
