Dear Laurenio Sousa:

I have reviewed your appeal to drop DRAM 100, ECON 110 and PSYC 100 (Fall/Winter 2018/2019) after the academic deadline and your request for Credit Standing in GPHY 101 (Winter 2019). After careful consideration of the documentation you submitted and the information supplied by your instructor of GPHY 101 about the circumstances surrounding these courses, I have decided to grant your appeal.

Your grades in DRAM 100, ECON 110, and PSYC 100 will appear on your transcript with a DR notation and your grade in GPHY 101 will appear on your transcript as CR.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. An appeal based on the same circumstances may not be granted in the future. Going forward, you should pause to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

I encourage you to consider registering with QSAS, if you have not done so already, and work with an accommodation advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health-related challenges.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
