I am sorry to have read about the challenges you are currently facing during the Summer term and have carefully considered your appeal to drop PSYC 271 (Summer 2020) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond his or her control.
This is a disappointing decision I am sure however, the information that you provided indicates that you had already fallen behind in meeting the academic requirements for this course before the academic deadline to drop it and that you chose to remain enrolled in it passed this deadline. I acknowledge Karim, that you were impacted by a chronic health-related extenuating circumstance but with the absence of documentation from a professional to verify this and the impact that it had on your Summer course, I simply cannot grant your request at this time.
