Dear Emma Hussey:

I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in PSYC 205, and PSYC 251 (F 2019), to drop ENGL 273, ENGL 441, and WRIT 290 (W 2020) after the academic deadline and for Aegrotat Standing in ENGL 330 and ENGL 340 (FW 2019/2020). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:

1. To grant your request for Credit Standing in PSYC 205 and PSYC 251 (F 2019). Your grade in these courses will appear as a CR on your transcript.

2. To grant your request to drop ENGL 273, ENGL 441, WRIT 290 (W 2020) after the academic deadline. Your grade in these courses will be replaced with a €DR€™ notation.

3. To deny your request to receive Aegrotat Standing in ENGL 330 (FW 2019/2020) as the information that I received from your instructor indicates that you were appropriately accommodated throughout the Winter term including the final take home exam. I understand that this is a disappointing decision but without the support of the instructor, I cannot grant this request. I am however willing to allow you to drop this course after the academic deadline based on the impact that the sudden COVID19 interruption had on your academics near the end of the term. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.

4. To deny your request to receive Aegrotat Standing in ENGL 340 (FW 2019/2020) as the information that I received from your instructor indicates that you had only completed 30 of the work in this course and are therefore not eligible for this academic appeal option. Academic Regulation 10.3.1. states that, Aegrotat estimated standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed at least 60 of the work for a course, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control, is unable to complete all the work of the course (see Academic Regulation 6)€. I am however willing to allow you to drop this course after the academic deadline based on the circumstances outlined and the documentation you have provided. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this letter and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
