Dear Samantha Craig:
I have reviewed your appeal to drop GNDS 120 (Fall 2019), CLST 103, GNDS 125 (Winter 2020), ENGL 100 and PSYC 100 (Fall/Winter 2019/2020) after the academic deadline. After careful consideration of the information that you provided in your appeal letter as well as the documentation that you submitted, I have decided to grant your appeal.
Your grades in these courses will be replaced with a DR notation on your transcript.
Given your circumstances, I am also willing to grant you Credit standing in ASTR 101 (F 2019) as well. If you would like to accept this offer, please email asc.appeals@queensu.ca within 21 days of receiving this decision and we will make the appropriate changes to your transcript.
I have granted this appeal based on the timeline and severity of your extenuating circumstances. Going forward, you should pause to evaluate the impact of your health on your studies during week 7 of the term. If you have fallen behind in a course or find the material too difficult, you should drop the course by week 8 of term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.
Before you return to your studies in the Fall of 2021, I encourage you to consider registering with QSAS. Establishing the appropriate academic accommodations in each of your classes may be able to help you better manage your academics along with your health-related challenges.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
