I am sorry to have read about the challenges you faced during the Summer term and have carefully considered your appeal to drop MATH 121 (Summer 2020) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, courses must be dropped on SOLUS within the published deadlines. The Academic Regulations (Appeal of Academic Decisions, IIIb) stress that exceptions to this will only be waived under extenuating circumstances. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling documentation indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by circumstances beyond his or her control.
I certainly empathize with your situation Lucia and understand that this is a disappointing decision. However, the documentation that you provided does not indicate the timeline of your health issues nor the impact that they had on your academics during the Summer term. I also see that you have submitted prior appeals for similar extenuating circumstances and that you have been made aware of the importance of assessing the impacts of your health on your classes before the academic deadline of the term. If you decide to take future courses at Queens, I strongly encourage you to register with QSAS so that you can work with an accommodation advisor who may be able to help you manage your academics along with your health-related challenges.
