Dear Bryanna Payne:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal the challenges related to a concussion which you faced during the Fall term 2020 and I have carefully considered your appeal requesting Aegrotat Standing in GPHY 304 (F 2020). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request based on your documentation and the support from your instructor.

The instructor has already submitted a replacement grade based on the work you have completed which will appear on your transcript as A+ along with the notation €œAegrotat: estimated grade€.

I have granted this appeal based on the severity of your extenuating circumstances but need to warn you that the appeals process is not meant to be used to manage a chronic condition. I encourage you to work with your health care team and consider registering with QSAS if necessary. A QSAS Advisor can help you manage both your health and your academics. Going forward, you should pause and evaluate the impact of your health on your studies prior to week 8 of term. The week 8 drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.

Best of luck in your continued recovery.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
