Dear Taige Zhao:
I was sorry to read of your health issues and the impacts that they have had on your Fall 2019 and Winter 2020 courses. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop FILM 206 (Fall 2019), FILM 435, PSYC 333, and PSYC 397 (Winter 2020) after the academic deadline and I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the information that you presented in your appeal letter as well as the information that you supplied from your health care professional. I acknowledge that the COVID-19 pandemic had an impact on your ongoing health issues, and I commend you for connected with Student Wellness Services when you recognized that you needed additional support. I see that you have taken your counsellors advice and are currently enrolled in a reduced course load for the Winter 2021 term. Going forward, I am confident that you will evaluate the impact of your health issues on your courses prior to the academic week 8 drop deadline and drop classes if you find that you cannot keep up with their academic demands.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
I wish you the best in your continued recovery,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
