I was sorry to read of the issues that you experienced during Fall of 2020. I have carefully considered your appeal to receive Credit standing in CISC 110 (Fall 2020) and after reviewing your file, I have decided to deny your request.
As you know, Academic Regulation 10.3.2. states that, Credit standing in a course is reserved for situations in which a student, who has completed and passed all of the work of the course including the final examination, but because of illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond their control, earned a substantially lower grade than might have been expected, normally a grade of C or lower€. The integrity of Arts and Science transcripts in general would be greatly diminished if the Faculty were to effect changes to students€™ records without clear and compelling reasons indicating that the student€™s performance was significantly compromised by extenuating circumstances beyond his or her control.
The information that I received from your instructor indicates you did not pass the final exam of this course nor did you meet the learning outcomes based on the work that you completed and so without the support of the instructor, I cannot grant your appeal request. I acknowledge that studying remotely from an international location was difficult for you and I certainly empathize with your situation. Going forward, I encourage you to carefully evaluate the impact of these factors on your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and consider dropping classes if you find that you cannot keep up with their academic demands.
