Dear Logan Lalonde:

I was sorry to read in your letter of appeal the challenges you outlined, and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ANAT 100, DEVS 220, FILM 240 and LIBS 100 (F 2020) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Please note that you successfully dropped DEVS 100 but since this is a full year course, the Fall side of the course (DEVS 100A) remains on your transcript but there are no grades associated with that portion of the full year course.

I have granted this appeal based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation. I was also pleased to see that you were not registered in courses during the Winter term and instead have been focusing on your health.

Logan, I suggest that you discuss with your health-care support team the possibility of registering with QSAS upon your return to Queens, if your challenges will be ongoing. QSAS can assist you with implementing accommodations and will help you manage both your health and your academics.

Going forward, when you once again register is courses, you should carefully assess your progress in your courses during week 7 or 8 of the term. If you find that you have fallen behind in your attendance, readings or assignments, it is your responsibility to drop courses by the end of week 8. Appeals for late drops are typically only granted when a problem occurs, or becomes acute, after the drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your degree progression.

Yours sincerely,

Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
