Dear Darien Newell:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you have had a difficult year, in part due to the passing of your grandmother and I am sorry for your loss. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop SOCY 122 (FW 2020/21) past the academic deadline and receive Credit standing in PSYC 100 (FW 2020/21). After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request. Your grade in PSYC 100 will appear on your transcript as a CR.

Going forward, I suggest you carefully evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop date deadline. Let me also advise you of the Academic Consideration service where a student can request short term consideration if you require leeway with assignment due dates.
