I was sorry to read that you have been struggling with health-related challenges during the Winter 2021 term. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop PHYS 118 (Fall/Winter 2020/2021) past the academic deadline and I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances as well as the proactive steps that you have taken by connecting with both health care professionals regarding treatment. I encourage you to consider to register for QSAS for the upcoming Fall term so that you can work with a counsellor to help you manage your academics along with your health-related challenges.

Going forward, I suggest that you evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in or find the material too difficult in by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the €œImportant Dates€ section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
