Dear Jingyi Huang:

I was sorry to read of the difficulties you outlined in your letter of appeal, some of which are related to COVID 19, and after carefully considering your request to drop KNPE 167 and BIOL 103 (W 2021) past the academic deadline, I have decided to grant your request based on the circumstances outlined as well as your documentation.

I have granted this appeal based on??documentation provided which notes that you sought out counselling and are continuing to work with a counsellor. Going forward you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on our academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline. Please do not wait until you receive your grades and then request a drop for those that are failures.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to extenuating circumstances. Jingyi, I strongly encourage you continue to work with a health professional and to proactively manage the impact of our condition on your academics.
