Dear Ashley Hart:
I have read your letter of appeal and can certainly understand that your courses were impacted by your circumstances, and I will certainly grant your appeal to drop PSYC 221 and PSYC 251 (S 2021) past the academic deadline based on those circumstances.
I encourage you to reach out and continue to work with your support team and to carefully evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of each term. If you have fallen behind in your course work due to any number of challenges, it is best to drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline rather than anticipate catching up ?? sometimes dropping a course is the best academic decision. I also strongly suggest that you considering lightening your course load. I see you are in 4 courses this term and 5 next term and that is a lot to manage, particularly when you are a parent to 5 children. The final drop date for a Fall term course is October 4th (to receive a 50% tuition refund) and November 1st (to receive a 25% tuition refund). The drop date for Winter term (to receive a full refund) is January 21, 2022.
Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
Yours sincerely,
Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
