Student Name: Alexander Makhmutov
Student Email: 20aem@queensu.ca

Course: BIOL 102
Term: Summer
Year: 2021
Category: Drop a course after the academic deadline

Dear Alexander Makhmutov:

I have carefully considered your appeal to drop BIOL 102 (S21) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on your documented injury and because you are a first-year student but I want you to know that this is a lenient decision. Most of your appeal, describes issues not related to your injury (such as group work) that are not considered grounds for a late drop. Going forward, when you need an accommodation, it is your responsibility to request one at that time. Information about Academic Consideration and Accommodation can be found on our website at https://www.queensu.ca/artsci/undergrad-students/academic-consideration-for-students.

Also, I suggest that you evaluate your academic progress during week 7 of the term and make sure to drop courses that you have fallen behind in, or are finding the material too difficult, by week 8 of the term. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Yours sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
