Dear Rosela Boland:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you had a difficult 2020/21 year and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ARTH 422, FILM 332 (F 2020) and ARTH 319, COMM 201, FILM 394 (W 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on the documentation submitted and the information in that documentation which indicates you have remained connected with Student Wellness Services.

Rosela, I strongly encourage you continue to work with your health professional team to proactively manage the impact of our challenges on your academics. I suggest that you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses during week 7 of the term and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in a course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics, in addition to dropping a course by Week 8, is to use our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to a documented extenuating circumstance. Here is the link for information about that process:

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.

Best of luck in your degree progression.

Sincerely,

Jill Atkinson, Ph.D.
Associate Dean (Academic)
