Dear Nathaniel:

I have reviewed your appeal to request to DR ARTH 212 (F20), GEOL 104, RELS 163, SOCY 227, and SOCY 200 (W21)??after the Academic Deadline and for Credit Standing in LAW 201, GEOL 200, SOCY 210, SOCY 226 (F20), and PSYC 241 (W21). After careful consideration of the information that you provided in your appeal letter, and the information supplied by the instructors of the courses, I have decided to grant your appeal.

Your grades in ARTH 212 (F20), GEOL 104, RELS 163, SOCY 227, and SOCY 200 (W21)??will be replaced with a DR notation. Your grades in LAW 201, GEOL 200, SOCY 210, SOCY 226 (F20), and PSYC 241 (W21) will be replaced with a CR notation.

I want you to know that this a very lenient decision as it is your responsibility as a student to proactively manage the impact of your situation on your courses at the time of occurrence. The appeals process is not meant to be used to manage the impact of extenuating circumstances retroactively, and instead should be handled while the course is in progress. Steps that you can take include connecting with your instructors or Teaching Assistants, booking an appointment with a counsellor in Student Wellness Services and utilizing Academic Consideration for accommodations. Going forward, I??encourage??you??to??carefully evaluate your progress in??each of??your courses during week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.

Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Please consult with the Student Awards Office, Office of the University Registrar, Gordon Hall, to understand the potential implications of changes to course or program registration and/or the consequences of not successfully completing the required course load.
