I was sorry to read that you experienced health related challenges as well as COVID related concerns this term. Based on your letter and your documentation, I will grant your appeal to drop ECON 351 (F 2021) past the academic deadline.
I have granted this appeal based on your circumstances and documentation but going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date, is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Note that any change in academic registration may impact government or private-firm student financial assistance eligibility and/or funding. Andrew, I encourage you to continue to work with your health professionals and if ongoing accommodation are needed in the future, you may want to consider registering with QSAS. A QSAS Advisor can offer support for both your health and academics.
