I am sorry to have read in your appeal letter of the health-related challenges you experienced during the Fall/Winter 2020/21 academic year and I have reviewed your appeal to change the grade you received in ENGL 200 to Credit standing. After careful consideration of the circumstances outlined and the documentation submitted as well as the information supplied by the instructor about the learning outcomes achieved in these courses, I have decided to grant this portion of your appeal.
Your grade in ENGL 200 will appear on your transcript as CR.
Julia, it does sound like your health is back on track but going forward, should you experience extenuating circumstances that are impacting your studies, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
