Dear Madeline:

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you had a difficult Fall 2021 term and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 310, POLS 327, POLS 331 and POLS 384 (F 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on??your documentation and your letter which notes that you will continue to work with your health professional to manage your health. Going forward, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop date. Please do not wait until you receive your grades and then request a drop for those that are failures.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. Madeline, I strongly encourage you continue to work with your health professionals and to proactively manage the impact of your condition on your academics.
