I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you have had a difficult term. No doubt the circumstances you have outlined would be difficult to deal with and I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ENGL 290 (F 2021) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on the extenuating circumstances outlined and since you are working with a variety of support services on campus as well as seeking help from QSAS and I am hopeful that these resources offer you the assistance you need.
Going forward, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in a course to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline. Please do not wait until you receive your grades and then request a drop for those that are failures.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
