I am sorry to read that you have experienced challenges which have impacted your studies this term. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop POLS 355 (W 2022) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.
I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances, but this is a somewhat lenient decision Sabrina since you are registered with QSAS and accommodations have been put in place for you. I do however realize that it does take time to find suitable strategies to help you manage a disorder.
Going forward, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in your courses prior to the week 7 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind in course work or if your circumstances are impacting your studies, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
Sabrina, I encourage you to continue to work with your QSAS Advisor who may be able to offer additional support to help you manage the impact of your circumstances on your academics.??
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
