Dear Siddith:

I am sorry to read of your health-related extenuating circumstances. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop MATH 126 (FW 2021/22), DRAM 236, GPHY 101, HIST 109 (W 2022) past the academic deadline and after reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on your extenuating circumstances, but this is a somewhat lenient decision Siddith since your surgery was prior to the week 8 drop deadline and it is a student??s responsibility to drop courses by the drop deadline if they have fallen behind in course work or if their health is impacting their studies. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.

If there are lingering impacts to your health, I encourage you to consult with your health-care provider about the possibility of registering with QSAS who can assist you by putting in place accommodations that may help you manage the impact of your health on your academics.??

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol which I see you are familiar with. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
