Dear Shanglin:
I have reviewed your request to complete 15.0 units on an International Letter of Permission for your BA (Honours) degree with a Major concentration in Applied Economics at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. As you know, Regulation 14.4 indicates that ??normally the last two years of the Honours degree are taken in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen??s.? However, given the circumstances explained in your letter of appeal, and the support of the Economics Department, I agree to this request. Please consult with your department regularly to ensure that the courses you select will properly fulfill the Queen??s requirements for your degree.
You must now apply for an International Letter of Permission through the International Programs Office. Please allow up to 21 days to receive a response.
Note that official transcripts with final grades must be received by the International Programs Office (IPO) upon completion of the courses so they can facilitate the transfer of those courses to Queen??s. Please keep in mind that you must achieve a minimum grade of C on each course taken on a Letter of Permission, unless stated otherwise.
Finally, please be advised that a student can complete a maximum of 57.0 transfer units towards their BA Honours degree (see Academic Regulation 16.1.3). You have currently transferred 6.0 units which were completed at Renmin University of China during the summer of 2019.
I wish you well in your studies while attending university in China as well as the remainder of your studies at Queen??s.
Yours sincerely,
Jenn Stephenson, Ph.D.
