Dear Caleb,

I am sorry to have read in your letter of appeal that you had a difficult term and I have carefully considered your request to drop CISC 322, CISC 324, CISC 335 and CISC 352 (W 2022) past the academic deadline. After reviewing your file, I have decided to grant your request.

I have granted this appeal based on??documentation provided which notes that you were suffering from significant and substantial medical issues. I was pleased to read in your documentation that your circumstances have greatly improved, and that you are ready to return to your coursework.

Going forward, you will be responsible for managing the impact of your condition on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the appeal process. Your doctor notes that you understand that you will require ongoing management and monitoring to ensure you don??t suffer deterioration and I strongly suggest that you adhere to that advise. Caleb, if this is a chronic condition, please talk to your doctor about the possibility of registering with QSAS. A QSAS??Advisor??can help put into place appropriate accommodations to help you manage the impact of your health on your academics.??

I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
