Dear Caroline,
As part of the standard process when appealing to the Board of Studies, the Associate Dean (Academic) reviews your appeal submission. I have carefully considered your appeal to drop ARTH 260 and ASCX 101 (Fall 2020). The supporting letter from your counsellor does not speak to the impact or timeline in relations to the drop date. However, as ASCX 101 was taught by me, I have gone back into my records and see that you submitting a STAA on 16 November 2020, indicating a severe impairment lasting 8-12 weeks. This document is quite persuasive as evidence to support a late drop, and I am compelled to grant this appeal.
Going forward, I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to the week 8 drop deadline and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the drop deadline.
