Dear Megha:

I was sorry to read of the challenges you outlined in your letter of appeal and understand that these were difficult circumstances to deal with. I have carefully considered your request to drop MATH 231, CISC 124, MATH 280, PHAR 100 (F 2019); CISC 124 (W 2020); CISC 251, MATH 384 (F 2020); MATH 210 (W 2021), receive Credit standing in MATH 280 (F 2020); as well as receive Aegrotat standing in CISC 282, ENSC 201 (W 2021). After reviewing your file I have decided the following:

1. To grant your request to drop MATH 231, CISC 124, MATH 280, PHAR 100 (F 2019); CISC 124 (W 2020); CISC 251, MATH 384 (F 2020); and MATH 210 (W 2021).

2. To grant your request for Credit standing in MATH 280 (F 2020). Your grade in this course will appear on your transcript as CR.

3. To grant your request for Aegrotat standing in ENSC 201 (W 2021) which will appear on your transcript with a grade of B along with the notation ??Aegrotat: estimated grade?.

4. To deny your request for Aegrotat standing in CISC 282 (W 2021). The instructor has advised that the grade earned is an accurate representation of the learning outcomes completed and achieved. Aegrotat standing is only granted in cases where there are well documented and unforeseen extenuating circumstances outside of a student??s control preventing them from completing the course within the term, or within an extended period of time, and the learning outcomes of the course have been satisfied.

Going forward, I strongly encourage you to continue to work with your health care team, and suggest that you pause and evaluate your progress in your courses during week 7 of term. If you have fallen behind in your studies due to your health or other extenuating circumstances, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline date.

Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
