I am sorry to read in your petition letter that you were not aware that your registration in COGS 100 (S 2022) had been processed and have carefully considered your request to drop that course past the academic deadline. After reviewing your petition, I have decided to grant your request.
I have exercised some leniency in this decision, acknowledging the confusion that you might have experienced related to that course registration, but going forward, I recommend that you check your course enrolments each term and to pause and evaluate your progress in your courses prior to the drop deadline. The drop deadlines, as they have been outlined in the ??Important Dates? section on the Arts and Science web page, have been established by the Faculty of Arts and Science to ensure a fair and equitable treatment of all students at Queen's.
For you information, another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop deadline is our Academic Consideration protocol. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances. If you wish to request a tuition refund, you must appeal to the Registrar??s Office. Here is a link to their appeal form which is managed by the Fees Office:
