Dear Jennifer,
I am sorry to have read in your petition letter the challenges you outlined, and I have reviewed your request to change the grade you received in CISC 101 (F 2022) to Credit standing. After careful consideration of the circumstances outlined and the documentation submitted, as well as the information supplied by the instructor about the learning outcomes achieved in this course, I have decided to grant your appeal.
Your grade in CISC 101 will appear on your transcript as CR.
Jennifer, I do need to warn you that the petition process is not meant to be used to manage an ongoing challenge. Instead, you should continue to work with your health professional and you may want to discuss with them the possibility of registering with QSAS. A QSAS Advisor can help introduce accommodations which may help manage both your health and academics. Going forward you will be responsible for managing the impact of your challenges on your academics proactively and not after the fact via the petition process. I encourage you to carefully evaluate your progress in each of your courses prior to week 7 and if you have fallen behind or you are not performing in the courses to your satisfaction, you should drop courses by the week 8 drop deadline.
Another tool to manage your academics in addition to dropping a course by the drop date is our Academic Consideration service. A student can request short term consideration if they need more time to complete an assignment or had to miss a class due to documented extenuating circumstances.
